Our Maths Curriculum
We have adopted the White Rose Scheme of work which focuses on a mastery approach to teaching mathematics. It emphasizes understanding concepts and problem solving.
It is important for children to enjoy their mathematics lessons and therefore a variety of approaches are adopted to enhance engagement and understanding of concepts. Teachers support children in the use of concrete apparatus to develop their understanding before moving on to using pictorial representations and finally representing concepts with abstract symbols. Children are encouraged to talk through their reasoning and understanding.
We wish for all children to develop a love of mathematics and recognise its importance in the wider world.
